Please stay weather aware tonight!

7:45p EDT update: One lone storm to our west as of this update, and it's a doozy. A tornado is on the ground with this storm, with golf ball size hail being reported. This is near Kankakee, IL pushing northeast.

Southern Lake, Porter, Newton and Jasper county would be in its path in the next hour if it holds together.

As this (and other storms) approach Michiana, I do plan to do an extended live stream. You can see it right here or at the top of the Matt Rudkin WX app. I am going to keep it informal tonight, since we may be together for an extended period of time. I'll certainly use to it to keep you ahead of the storms, but also learn a thing or two about reading radar.

𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: 𝟳:𝟰𝟱 𝗔.𝗠. | Unfortunately, this has been a pretty normal scene for us this morning. The road crews are doing their best to keep up… but the very heavy snow overnight has made many roads a bit difficult to navigate.

Our advice? If you don’t need to be out today… it may be best to stay in and let the plows do their thing.

The Mishawaka and South Bend area is experiencing very heavy snowfall rates. Crews are unable to keep up with road conditions, and many side streets have not been plowed.

Travel is strongly discouraged. If you must be out, a 4x4 vehicle is necessary to navigate current conditions.

We will continue to respond to all emergencies; however, response times may be longer due to road conditions. Please help us by clearing snow away from fire hydrants near your home or business.

🚧Main Break-There is a water main break at the corner of St. Lo Ave & Normandy Drive. Crews are working on this and will have it repaired later today.
