🟢Seollal (Korean Lunar New Year),
In Korean culture and tradition, it is a holiday centered on family, gratitude, and fresh beginnings.
Families often wear Hanbok, traditional Korean clothing known for its vibrant colors and intentional symbolism of health and prosperity.
The essential dish is Tteokguk (rice cake soup). Eating a bowl signifies turning one year older and starting the year with a “clean mind and body” due to the white rice cakes.
The festive spirit is kept alive with games like Yut Nori (a board game with wooden sticks), kite flying, and Jegichagi.
Families gather to perform a ceremony offering food and drinks to their ancestors to show gratitude and respect.
✅️Sebae (Formal Bow): The central act where younger generations perform a deep bow to their elders. This is a gesture of respect and a way to receive Sebaetdon (New Year’s luck money) and blessings for the year.
