After years of guiding and talking with a lot of folks on and off the water, one thing has become clear: figuring out where and how to access moving water on the Flathead system can be a daunting task. From the big, broad water of the Mainstem to the steep, rowdy gorge sections upstream, anglers and boaters are faced with a wide range of options and not all of them are suited for a mellow day on the water.

To help clear up some of that confusion, and hopefully keep someone from making a poor decision about where to launch, we put together an access guide to help folks better understand the structure of access on the Flathead River system. This resource is built from years of guiding and focuses on public access, river logistics, and responsible use not secret water or hot spots.

If you fish here, or plan to in the future, having a clearer picture of how access works can go a long way toward protecting the river and the experience it offers. Check out the link below.
