Flathead Lake gets a lot of the spotlight, and for good reason. It is the largest natural freshwater lake in the West, with more than 200 square miles of water and roughly 185 miles of shoreline, and it is so clean that it is considered one of the cleanest lakes in the world. Glaciers carved out the valley, snowmelt and mountain rivers keep it refreshed, and clear water means you can look down and see rocks that are much deeper than they look.
