WATERFRONT BASEBALL STADIUM PROPOSED
⚾ A waterfront baseball stadium accompanied by a resort and entertainment district was among the ideas presented to the Mobile City Council on Wednesday, October 14.

🏟️ Jarvis Antwine, representing Crosstown Solutions of Mobile, introduced the concept while addressing the proposed South Riverfront Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District.

"Specifically, I would like to propose the development of a waterfront baseball stadium accompanied by a resort entertainment district overlooking the Mobile skyline," Antwine told council members.

He described a destination that would combine professional baseball, hospitality, dining, shopping and entertainment, attracting residents and visitors from throughout the Gulf Coast.

Antwine suggested locating the development on the opposite side of the bridge along the South Riverfront. He said it could complement existing plans for waterfront redevelopment rather than compete with them, generating activity on both sides of the bridge.

His stated purpose was to begin a conversation about the project's feasibility, potential public-private partnerships and opportunities to work with the city.

Council members later voted to delay consideration of the proposed South Riverfront TIF District for two weeks to allow further discussions with Mobile County and the school system.
