When I moved to Monrovia in 1987, there were a bunch of young people moving into town and buying old houses, some in pretty bad condition. Most of them lovingly worked on these homes and brought them back to their original character and charm. In most of those cases, the actual homeowners did the work! Nowadays I find that most buyers looking for older homes want them already restored so they don't have to do it themselves. I love this article and the fact that this older couple did a lot of the work themselves. They used Pasadena's Gamble House and the Blacker House as examples. I hope you old house buffs enjoy this article as much as I did!
