Meet Ms. Biddy Mason, the first noted Black female real estate agent✨ She also became what we call today a real estate mogul, accumulating a number of properties & wealth by the time of her death.
• Born into slavery in Georgia in 1818
• As an adult, the family she worked for move to Southern California (laws made provisions for freedom for African Americans)
• Declared free at age 38 in 1856
• As a free woman, she worked as a nurse & midwife, saving for her first property
• Purchased her first property in 1866 & bought/sold many properties over the years
At the time of her death in 1891, Ms. Mason was one of the wealthiest women in Los Angeles, California ✊🏽
