City of Montgomery Finance Director/Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Betty Beville has helped make history by leading Montgomery to its best financial condition ever!
As Chief Financial Officer, Betty ensured the City of Montgomery received the highest possible score for operational performance in the Fitch Ratings’ report. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic that threatened public and private sector budgets alike, Betty's leadership ensured Montgomery weathered the storm without touching the city’s reserves, initiating layoffs, or drawing on lines of credit.

Betty is the FIRST African American and the FIRST woman to serve as finance director for the City of Montgomery. She is counted among only a few women to serve as CFO for ANY city in Alabama. She boasts nearly 20 years of service to the City, in addition to more than 25 years of service with the State of Alabama, Administrative Office of Courts. A native of Livingston, Ala., Mrs. Beville earned an MBA with an accounting concentration from Troy University in Montgomery.

She and her husband, Johnny L. Beville, are proud parents of Adrian L. Beville and Jocelyn Beville Defoe and the VERY proud grandparents of three granddaughters. Her hobbies include reading, cooking, traveling and being someone who will always answer a call of service whenever there is a need to do so.
