Inclement Weather Warning December 2022
Please note weather forecasts predict our service areas will experience freezing temperatures beginning Thursday, December 22 thru the 25th. Check your local weather forecast for details.
Take preventative measures now to ensure your pipes, including sprinklers systems, do not become frozen.
If you are experiencing an outage, please keep in mind that your pipes are likely frozen. If this is the case, you will have to wait for the water in your pipes to melt before the water will run.
Some helpful hints provided by a Local Water Utility Company, to prevent frozen pipes as well as suggestions if your pipes do become frozen during this cold snap.
"A trickle of hot and cold water to keep your pipes from freezing. Let warm water drip overnight.
"Keep your thermostat set at the same temperature during both day and night.
"Open cabinet doors to allow heat to get to pipes under sinks, especially on outside walls.
"If you turn on your faucets and nothing comes out, leave the faucets turned on and call a plumber.
" Thaw a frozen pipe using a hair dryer. Start by warming the pipe as close to the faucet as possible, working toward the coldest section of pipe. Never try to thaw a pipe with a torch or other open flame.
" *If your water pipes have already burst, turn off the water at the main shutoff valve in the house; leave the water faucets turned on and call a plumber.
" Drain your Sprinkler System and turn it OFF There are many videos on YouTube videos with instructions on how to drain/winterize your sprinklers system.
"LEAVE your Pool Pumps Running 24/7 (turn off all timers)
