Woah, February flew by! I cannot believe that we have turned the calendar to March - but here’s a little personal update if you care to read!

I came down with the flu this past month and I'm finally getting over it - it's been rough. I am 10000% ready for sun, snow melting, and warmer days ahead of us!

Here’s 4 specific highlights from the month:

1. The best purchase we made last year was the hot tub. It definitely helps pass the time in these colder months. I like to pretend I’m somewhere warm and tropical even though my nose hairs freeze up - haha! It’s a little delusional, but it’s the only way I can make it through these cold months!
2. We helped with the Monticello Lion’s Galentine’s Purse Bingo. It’s always fun and it’s supporting a great cause, too! 100% of what we brought in through the event goes straight back into the community!
3. My dear friend, Heather, came up for a short weekend from Florida. I was able to meet up with her at Nordic to catch up. It was so nice to see her - we definitely miss her and her husband when they abandon us for FL every October!
4. We ended the month with a bang for TJ’s birthday. We went down to Iowa to Diamond Joe’s! That was the first time we’ve been there - it was a fun venue! We also had a get-together with some friends, and even though I’m missing my daughters, I’m always happy to see their friends and spend a little time with them, too. Elli is always a good sport and hangs out with us old people! 😉

Spring market is upon us - things are starting to heat up! I’m ready to spend some time with my girls this month when they’re home for Spring Break, and also get some projects started AND finished around the house!

My face says it all: Uptown in Waverly has one of the best burgers in the NW Metro area. It was juicy and flavorful, and the crinkle cut fries that were on the side were cooked to perfection! Their burgers are made with a mix of local beef and 15% ribeye, cooked on a Chicago grill to seal in the juices. YUM!

It’s near the lake and located in a historic building. It’s family-owned and community-driven. It’s a business with a warm and inviting atmosphere - the staff was quick to greet us as we came in. They also have a great patio to enjoy in the warm summer months to come. I mean, it is going to get warmer eventually… right?

They’re open daily for lunch and dinner, and Saturday & Sunday for breakfast! They have a full menu with a variety of options to choose from. Be sure to check them out next time you are in the area. I promise you won't be disappointed!

This is your sign to go to Nordic! This incredible spot is exactly what downtown Monticello needed.

I'll be honest, I'm selfishly glad they're here because it's so close to my office that I'm able to walk over and during the summer, I'll be able to sit on the rooftop patio and work.

They have done a great job with everything. From the atmosphere to the outdoor seating area to the ambiance of the string lights at night, it's seriously beautiful! It overlooks the Mississippi River and the new West Bridge Park. It feels like you're in a big city, but you still get the small-town care! 

They host a lot of events, music, and trivia, so make sure to like their page on FB to see what's going on. There's always something fun on their calendar! 

I have zero complaints. The atmosphere, food, and staff are all 10/10! I'm not just saying that - I've experienced it!

Now, to talk specifics, if you're a mushroom lover, then you NEED to try the Wild Mushroom flatbread. It is normally not something I'd pick off of a menu, but my friend ordered it and let me try a bite. It was AMAZING. It's now my go-to order when I go.

I've also had Zach's Manover Bowl in an attempt to make healthier choices. That was also very good - I'll be ordering it again! 

All in all, get your butt to Nordic - you won't regret it! Tell 'em Amanda sent yah :)
