Happy Monday Friends! Remember the post asking what this number means on the side of our moving trucks?
USDOT # 1908307

Here is the answer and it might surprise you!

Having a USDOT Number on the side of a moving truck helps to give information to the client but it can also be EXPIRED. This means YOU the consumer are at risk and the company you are hiring is operating illegally.

So how can you the consumer do your homework to make sure the moving company you are looking to hire is actually authorized to legally operate in the State of Oklahoma?

Every “legal” moving company is required by law to have an “Oklahoma Household Goods Certificate” issued through the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. The carrier a.k.a. Moving Company must also maintain required liability and cargo insurance on file with the State of Oklahoma.

Every year Discount Moving is required by law to turn in all of our insurance policies to the State of Oklahoma and in return the Oklahoma Corporation Commission issues our yearly license. This license gives our clients peace of mind in knowing that they are protected and covered.

So when choosing a mover, don’t stop at: “Do you have a ODOT NUMBER?

ASK THIS: Are you authorized by the Oklahoma corporation commission to transport household goods?
ASK for a copy of their “current license”. If they can’t or won’t share….. HUGE RED FLAG!!

Because there’s a BIG difference between having an identification number and having the proper authority to legally operate as a household goods mover.

At Discount Moving, we believe an educated customer is a protected customer!!

Before you hand over everything you own to a moving company, know who you are hiring and verify their credentials.

You might ask, but how do I “verify” a moving companies credentials?

Glad you asked…
Super Easy, by calling the Oklahoma Corporation Commission at : 405-521-2251, ask for the Transportation Division and tell them you need to verify if a moving company is in fact “legal” to operate. They can look up any company by name or by USDOT Number.

Moving an entire house is NOT for the weak, but somehow these guys made the whole process ridiculously easy. They showed up ready to work, handled everything with so much care, had the best attitudes the entire time, and absolutely WORKED. Our whole house was moved in just under 3.5 HOURS!!!

It’s not very often you have an experience with a company where you immediately think, “Yep, I’m telling everyone about them,” but this was absolutely one of those times.

This one is also extra special to me because the people behind Discount Moving are people I love and adore like family. Paula, Mike, Abby, and the entire Dodson family have held such a special place in my heart for years, and they are some of the most hardworking, generous, and genuinely good people I know. Watching what this family has built with Discount Moving is something I have so much respect for. They were actually some of the people who first sparked my own interest in becoming a business owner, so getting to support and brag on something they’ve worked so hard to build means even more to me.

And personal connection aside, the experience speaks entirely for itself. The professionalism, work ethic, kindness, and character of their crew are such a reflection of the company they’ve created. Story time is our favorite!

You know how God puts people in your path because he just knows?

We just had the pleasure of packing and moving the sweetest family.

Not sharing names or information without permission, but I am telling ya, God had his hands all over this!

A sweet family had made a post on Facebook asking about a moving company that could help with packing and moving and needed lots of grace as they are going through one of life’s unthinkable challenges that will forever change their lives.

In that group, Discount Moving was tagged multiple times.

I was able to do a FaceTime call with them and was able to talk and get to know them and their story. Heartbreaking to say the least. 💔

We got to serve them with their packing and moving needs and let’s just say, God knew!

Friends when I say this, we do not take it lightly when others have a need and the community knows exactly who to tag and share and refer. You are placing yourself and your recommendations in the trust and care of all of us here at DM!❤️

That, in itself, means everything!
