Closing day humor:
It’s closing day.
The buyer wakes up excited.
The seller wakes up emotional.
The lender wakes up stressed.
And the Realtor… never actually went to sleep.
At 8:00 AM, everyone is confident everything will go smoothly.
At 9:15 AM, the lender emails:
“Just one small thing — we need an updated bank statement.”
The buyer replies instantly:
“Sure!”
At 10:30 AM, underwriting responds:
“Perfect. Now we just need a letter explaining this $27 Venmo transaction from 3 months ago labeled ‘tacos.’”
The buyer writes:
“I was hungry.”
Noon arrives. The closing is scheduled for 1 PM.
The Realtor texts everyone:
“WE ARE STILL ON TRACK 👍.”
At 12:47 PM, the title company calls.
“Quick question… has anyone seen the HOA payoff?”
The seller says, “What HOA?”
The buyer says, “There’s an HOA??”
The Realtor quietly googles breathing exercises.
At 1:05 PM, new documents arrive.
At 1:20 PM, everyone signs.
At 1:45 PM, the lender says, “Funds are on the way!”
Everyone celebrates.
At 3:30 PM, everyone asks:
“So… did it fund yet?”
At 4:58 PM, the wire finally hits.
The title agent announces:
“Congratulations! We are officially closed!”
The buyer cheers.
The seller cries.
The lender logs off.
And the Realtor smiles, hands over the keys, takes the celebratory photo…
…then immediately checks their phone and sees a new message:
“Hi! We’re thinking about buying a house. Is now a good time?”
