is a Mooresville business, owned by Lisa Shepherd Cooper, with an INCREDIBLE story. Her son, Zach, with down syndrome, loved going to work with his dad, David. When the family was ready, David took an early retirement to pursue starting the business with his son & wife. They asked Zach what kind of business he wanted to start and immediately said a doughnut shop and thats just what they have done. Down for Doughnuts opened on March 21st after many delays which turned out to be the perfect day because it is National Down Syndrome Day. They are open for business, for take out donuts! The community has been excited to have a great place to get their morning coffee and donuts on their way to work! The big goal is to open many more “Down for Doughnuts” locations to shine a light on the “ability” not the “disability” of people with down syndrome. Lisa and David’s son currently works in a restaurant where people come in just to see him. Now that’s a wonderful business model and not to mention the doughnuts and coffee are delicious. The family has picked the perfect location and have an AMAZING product so definitely make this a MUST do to check out!
