🚨 Market/Rate Update 🚨

The Fed just wrapped up its June meeting and has decided to keep interest rates unchanged for the fourth time, maintaining the benchmark rate between 4.25% and 4.5%.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- No economic slowdown: The labor market remains strong and there's no indication the economy is faltering in the near term. Consumer spending and business activity are still solid.
Inflation remains sticky: The Fed raised its inflation forecast slightly and acknowledged the early effects of tariffs. Powell noted that policymakers are being cautious while inflation sits above target.
- Unemployment and growth forecasts revised: The Fed now expects unemployment to rise to 4.5% this year (up from 4.4%), and GDP growth to slow to 1.4% (down from 1.8%).
- Two rate cuts still on the table: The Fed’s latest 'dot plot' still points to two cuts this year, but opinions are more divided. Seven officials now predict no cuts in 2025 (up from four in March).
