The new facility, which has been in the planning stages for several years, will feature multiple boat ramps, a floating dock and dedicated parking for boat trailers. The project cleared its final major hurdle recently after receiving a federal permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The property tax value appeal window for 2024 is closing soon, but there is still time for property owners to start an appeal. Appeals must be received or postmarked no later than 5 p.m. on April 19.

The Board of Equalization and Review will convene, as required by law, to hear appeals beginning Monday, April 1 and will adjourn on Friday, April 19. After the April 19 adjournment, neither the County Tax Administrator nor the Board of Equalization and Review are allowed to consider additional appeals for 2024. The Board of Equalization and Review will continue to meet only to hear those timely filed appeals. Meetings will be held at the Carteret County Board of Commissioners meeting room, located at 302 Courthouse Square in Beaufort.
