My day at the office consisted of paperwork commonly done in the patrol car, everyone I dealt with was emotional about their current situation and I need to help them stay calm and focused, eating my lunch in my car, and g
etting called in at all hours for an emergency. I accomplished all of my goals as an officer and had nowhere to advance without switching to another department and starting over. I started thinking about what a life would look like as a real estate agent. I could set my own hours, have money rolling in, casually show homes and be able to finally give my family the life we have dreamed of. After three years as a Realtor I laugh at myself and think “BOY! My day as a Realtor really looks like, paperwork done in my car, everyone is emotional about selling or buying their house and I need to help them stay focused and calm, eating my lunch in my car, getting called in at all hours because my buyer thought of something in the middle of the night and woke from a dead sleep or a new house just hit the market and we need to see it before everyone else. And Guess What? I WOULDN’T CHANGE A THING! I have never loved any job as much as I love Real Estate. I got into the police field with a desire to help people. Little did I know that the majority of people I would try to help would not actually want the help that was offered. As a Realtor I have helped more people than I EVER did as an officer. On top of that, the people I’ve helped are truly grateful for everything I’ve done. I’ve stopped more than one person from being homeless. I’ve been a counselor and a shoulder to lean on. I’ve stopped people from foreclosure. I’ve helped people sell a house that they were upside down. I’ve helped people with their credit. I’ve introduced people to each other to start a business that changed their life. On top of all of that I have made so many friends along the way that I never would have met without being a Realtor. I don’t have to go out to parties to meet people, they come to me as clients and leave as friends. I couldn't have asked for a better career.
