Now offering wild life experiences with every stay at our properties around Stowe. 😉 This family shared their morning visitor with us. Thank you for this up close view of a young black bear. All jokes aside, we love bear country. We are learning how to adapt and grow how we can share our state with these magnificent creatures. Please do not try to feed, touch or corner or approach a black bear especially if it’s a mama with her babies avoid that situation altogether if possible. Most times a loud “Hey bear” will shoo them away, but black bears are smart, so please lock your car doors and try to leave no food behind or properly dispose of garbage around town to deter them from being a nuisance. They are a wonderful site to see and if we can learn to live with them, then they don’t need to be euthanized. As there is really no relocation program.

Interesting read. I do agree there needs to be different legislation. Having been a rental agent and property manager I see both sides but when a tenant stops paying and is damaging your property and it takes the courts forever in this process of eviction. The landlord ends up being the one with all the costs, and there’s no repercussions for the tenants. Other than, that they will lose eventually their housing and it would cost the landlord more money to bring tenants to court for damages. It’s a very long drawn out process, which should be eliminated. If the state offered classes for landlords on how to improve their home and to go through the landlord, rights and regulations, I would take it, I have read through the rights and regulations, but if there was a course, with things I could better understand, I would totally do. 

Vermont’s housing shortage has reached a breaking point. The state’s 2025-29 Vermont Housing Needs Assessment links record-low vacancy rates to a sharp rise in homelessness, which has tripled since 2019.

Our friends at mountainviewvacations have been dreaming of bringing back hot air balloons to Stowe for years — and two years ago, they approached us with the idea. After many conversations and lots of planning, it’s making its debut in the von Trapp fields!

Mountain View Vacations and von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort will be Co-hosting the Stowe Balloon Festival! Flying through Trapp fields June 27th-29th.

More details regarding booking rides and tethers to follow shortly.

Lodging will be available at von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort and private home bookings with Mountain View Vacations. We expect this to sell out quickly. More details on advance ticket purchase, sponsorship, and balloon rides will follow this week.
