Are Bathtubs Still Popular?

You might be surprised! While large walk-in showers are one of today's most requested bathroom features, bathtubs still hold their appeal.

✔️ Perfect for relaxing after a long day
✔️ Great for families with young children
✔️ Adds a spa-like touch to the home
✔️ Can be a selling point for many homebuyers

Current trends are leaning toward elegant soaking tubs and freestanding tubs, but traditional garden tubs remain popular in many homes, especially when paired with a separate shower.

If you're considering a bathroom update before selling your home, remember: buyers often notice a clean, attractive, well-maintained bathroom more than whether the tub is the latest style.

What's your preference?
* Bathtub for soaking and relaxing
* Large walk-in shower
* Both!

Thinking about selling your home? One often-overlooked detail that can make a surprisingly positive impression on buyers is professional air duct cleaning!

Here's why your home should smell fresh, clean and stand out:

Air duct cleaning:
* Creates a Fresher-Smelling Home
Clean air ducts can help reduce stale odors, dust, and lingering smells from pets, cooking, or everyday living. Buyers notice when a home feels fresh and clean the moment they walk in.

* Shows Pride of Ownership
Having the HVAC system and ductwork cleaned signals that the home has been well maintained - and buyers love seeing evidence of good care.

* Helps Improve Indoor Air Quality
Removing built-up dust, debris, and allergens may help the air feel cleaner and more comfortable during showings and open houses.

* Can Support HVAC Efficiency
A clean system may allow air to flow more efficiently, which is a nice bonus buyers appreciate when thinking about future utility costs.

* Can be a Great Selling Point
Be sure to mention recent duct cleaning in your listing or feature sheet. Small maintenance updates can help reassure buyers and add value to their perception of the home.

Sometimes it’s the little details that help a home feel truly “move-in ready!”

Is Brown the New Gray?
The Warm Color Trend Everyone’s Talking About!

For years, gray dominated home decorating. Gray walls, gray sofas, gray flooring — everything cool, sleek, and modern. But lately, designers and homeowners are asking a new question: Is brown making a comeback? The answer appears to be YES!

Warm earthy tones are replacing the cool grays that have ruled for over a decade. Rich browns, creamy taupes, caramel, mocha, chocolate, cinnamon, and mushroom shades are suddenly everywhere — in furniture, flooring, paint colors, fashion, and even kitchen cabinets.

Why the change? People are craving homes that feel cozy, comforting, natural, timeless and welcoming. After years of cooler, minimalist interiors, many are ready for warmth and personality again.

Design experts say brown works beautifully because it pairs with almost everything - soft whites, sage greens, dusty blues, black accents, gold metals, natural wood and stone.

Brown also brings a sense of stability and calm that many people find relaxing. And unlike some trendy colors, brown has staying power. It’s classic. Think luxury leather chairs, warm wood furniture, coffee tones, and elegant hotel interiors.

Some of the biggest trends right now include espresso cabinetry, walnut furniture, warm beige walls, cognac leather, chocolate brown accents, earthy textiles and woven décor.

So… is brown the new gray? Maybe not completely — but it’s definitely becoming the “new neutral.” Instead of cold and icy, today’s homes are moving toward warm and inviting.

How to Prepare Walls for Repainting Before Selling Your Home

When you're preparing your home for sale, fresh paint is one of the most cost-effective ways to boost appeal. But here’s the secret many homeowners miss - the quality of your paint job depends far more on preparation than the paint itself.

A properly prepped wall creates a smooth, clean, move-in-ready look that buyers love.

Step 1: Clear and Inspect the Space
Start by removing wall décor, nails, outlet covers, and moving furniture away from the walls. Then inspect carefully for nail holes, dents, cracks, peeling or chipped paint and stains or discoloration.
Good lighting helps reveal imperfections you might otherwise miss.
Tip for selling: Buyers notice flaws more than color—so fix surfaces first.

Step 2: Clean the Walls Thoroughly
Even if walls look clean, they collect dust, grease, and residue over time. Wash with mild soap and water. Pay attention to high-touch areas like switches and hallways. Use a stronger cleaner for kitchen grease or stains. If you skip this step, paint may not adhere properly and can peel later.

Step 3: Repair Holes and Imperfections
Fill all dents, nail holes, and cracks with spackling compound or joint compound. Caulk for gaps near the trim.mApply slightly more than needed, then let it dry. Proper filling ensures a smooth, like-new surface—a big selling point.

Step 4: Sand for a Smooth Finish
Once repairs are dry sand patched areas until flush with the wall
Lightly sand glossy or uneven surfaces. This step removes bumps and helps new paint stick evenly.

Step 5: Clean again (Yes, again!)
After sanding wipe away dust with a damp cloth or vacuum. Dust left behind can ruin your finish and cause a gritty texture.

Step 6: Tape and protect areas.
Use painter’s tape around trim, ceilings, and windows. Cover floors and furniture with drop cloths. This gives you clean, professional-looking edges - something buyers subconsciously notice.

Step 7: Prime the Walls.
Primer is essential, especially if you repaired patches, you’re covering stains or you’re changing from dark to light colors. Primer helps paint adhere better and creates a uniform finish.

Why This Matters When Selling: Skipping prep can lead to uneven or blotchy paint, visible flaws (a red flag for buyers) and peeling or cracking later.

Done right, prep work gives you a clean, fresh, “well-maintained” look, better photos for listings and a higher perceived home value.

Tips for Selling Your Home When You Have a Dog

When Fido is part of the family it takes a little extra planning when you list your home!

Before showings make sure pet toys are picked up, Fido's bed is tucked away, and our furry family member takes a little outing.

As adorable as he/she is, it's always best that our pets are away from the home during showings. It helps buyers focus on the home itself while still knowing it’s been a happy place for both people and pets.

If you’re selling with pets, a little preparation goes a long way!

2026 Paint Color Trends for Inside Walls

Thinking about updating your walls this year? 2026 is all about warm, inviting, and nature-inspired hues — colors that make your home feel cozy, grounded, and stylish. Here are standout picks that designers love:

* Warm Neutrals and Earth Tones – Think creamy beiges, soft taupes, and warm greiges that feel timeless and inviting.
* Nature-Inspired Greens – Soft sage, muted eucalyptus, and dusty greens bring calm and a connection to the outdoors.
* Rich Browns and Clay Tones – Deep browns, terracotta, and clay hues add depth and warmth to living rooms and dining spaces.
* Deep Moody Accents – Teal, navy, or charcoal make stunning accent walls without overwhelming a room.

Designer tip: Some brands like Benjamin Moore are spotlighting rich espresso/brown neutrals (Silhouette) as their Color of the Year, showing that cozy, elegant hues are trending over stark whites and cold grays in 2026.

Whether you’re repainting a single room or your whole house, these palettes help create spaces that feel stylish, personal, and timeless.

Tip: Try painting samples on poster board pinned to your wall before committing — lighting can change how colors look throughout the day!
