Viking Inspections spent the long weekend serving our community. In the past Viking Inspections was lucky enough to work with United Way, donating to Frederick County school lunch program. This year we decided to donate our time and service. The long weekend was spent making a preparing pillows and blankets for those in need and shoveling out various community service buildings. With the colder winter months approaching, home owners are closing up their homes and turning up the heat. For many homeowners that includes forced air furnaces, fire places, and wood stoves. Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas. It is the second leading cause of lung cancer. Viking Inspections offers short-term radon tests for a duration of 48 hrs. We utilize E-PERM (electrets ion chamber) systems and deploy two tests simultaneously for the most accurate results.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Surgeon General strongly recommend further action be taken when a home’s radon test results are 4.0 pCi/L or greater. The national average indoor radon level is 1.3 pCi/L. The higher the home’s radon level, the greater the health risk to you and your family. Viking Inspection saw a brief change in the housing market where buyers were able to require Home Inspections as well as other inspections of essential operating systems. The brief change appears to have shifted back to many multiple offers on limited homes. Buyers once again forgoing their right to inspect the home and related operating systems. Viking Inspections has decided to offer a flat rate for pre-offer walk and talk home inspections, limited to 1 hour. Inspections prioritizing the evaluation of structure and essential operating systems in the home. This offer has seen clients have much success in the past, may of our clients (buyers) are able to feel confident and protected to submit strong offers forging inspections and securing there dream homes!
