A storm doesn’t wait for you to get home.

Every home in our care has its own plan, written for its systems, its storm protection and its owner.

Before the storm: shutters closed and latched, storm kits packed and ready, sump pumps tested — whatever each home’s plan calls for.

Prepared before. Present after.

Sixteen years ago, we started with one idea: your home should be treated like it’s the only one that matters.

Since 2010, Nautilus Home Management has grown into full service home care for Lowcountry homeowners, backed by our custom home division, Phillip Smith GC | Charleston Custom Home Builder.

Home watch. Preventive maintenance. Hurricane prep. Renovations and custom builds. One team, one point of contact.

Follow long as we share more of what we’ve learned about protecting and improving the homes we’re trusted with.

You bought the house for the mornings on the porch, the sound of the waves, the way the light comes up over the water before the rest of the day starts. Not for the punch list waiting behind it.

Routine inspections. Seasonal prep. Warranty oversight. Trusted vendors, already vetted. The kind of care that happens before you ever notice something needed attention.

Ownership, simplified.

Something worth thinking about, if you’re weighing what to do with all that extra time.

From above, a roof tells you everything it won’t from the ground — years of coastal exposure, streaking that signals moisture, flashing that’s due for a look before the next named storm rolls through.

This is what an annual inspection is built to catch, long before it becomes a repair.

Consistent oversight isn’t an add-on. It’s the whole point.

A painter doesn’t just show up and start rolling.

There’s a confirmed scope, a scheduled arrival, and someone checking the finish before the owner ever sees a drop cloth.

On one of the homes we manage, that meant a fresh coat of paint — one trade in a long list we coordinate so the owner never has to.

It’s the part no one notices. Until it’s missing.

The unglamorous part is the part that matters.

The house is why we’re there. But somewhere along the way, it stopped being just the house — it’s the dog who waits by the door before we even ring the bell, the one who knows the sound of the truck in the driveway. You learn a home by learning what lives inside it.

Care doesn’t stop at the scope of work.

This is a blower door test — one of the most telling diagnostics we run at Nautilus Home Management. We pressurize the home from the inside, then use fog to visualize the air, escaping through gaps in the building envelope. Every plume you see is a leak point: a place where conditioned air is getting out and humid, unconditioned air is getting in.

Why does this matter?

Because uncontrolled air leakage is one of the leading hidden causes of elevated indoor humidity. And humidity is the precursor to almost everything homeowners dread: mold, mildew, musty odors, warped, trim, and premature wear on HVAC systems working overtime to compensate.

This is the standard we hold every home to: don’t guess, diagnose. Building envelopes are invisible systems until you make them visible and once you can see the problem, you can actually solve it — not just treat the symptoms.

If your home has stubborn humidity, musty smells or comfort issues that don’t add up, this is where we’d start.

Some details deserve specialized expertise.

We’re proud to share that our Service Technician, Robby Arbogast, has completed certification through Southern Lumber to service and maintain Euro-Wall systems.

Euro-Wall creates the expansive moving glass walls often found in custom coastal homes, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor living while delivering exceptional performance and design. These systems are frequently incorporated into homes built by Phillip Smith GC | Charleston Custom Home Builder making this certification a natural extension of our Build → Care approach.

With Robby’s certification, homeowners now have direct access to qualified service and maintenance without relying on outside vendors or navigating multiple points of contact.

For Robby, this work is about more than repairs or maintenance. “The small details that can be missed are the details I look for.”

His commitment to craftsmanship, attention to detail, and what he calls the “relentless pursuit of perfection” reflects the standard of care we bring to every home we oversee.

This expanded capability allows us to better support both our home management clients and the homeowners we have had the privilege to build for over the years.

Because protecting a home doesn’t end when construction is complete.

Today, we celebrate Laura and the impact she’s made on every home, every client, and every one of us at Nautilus.

Since joining us in 2014, Laura brought with her over 20+ years of corporate experience from Xerox and GE…
But what she built here goes far beyond a resume.

It’s in the relationships.
The trust.
The quiet consistency our homeowners came to rely on.

Laura, thank you for 12 years of dedication, integrity, and heart.

You’ve left your mark here, in ways that will last far beyond your time with us.

We wish you all the best in this next chapter… More time with family, more coastal walks, and everything you’ve earned along the way.

You will always be part of Nautilus.

Hurricane preparation in Charleston isn’t seasonal. It’s strategic.

Along the coast, storm damage rarely comes from one moment—
it comes from what wasn’t addressed weeks before hurricane season.

At Nautilus Home Management, we provide luxury hurricane preparation services in Charleston, SC designed specifically for each home we manage.

Because no two coastal properties are the same.

Every home has its own:
• Exposure to wind and water
• Drainage challenges
• Salt air impact
• Structural vulnerabilities

That’s why we build custom hurricane preparedness plans—
documented, coded, and tailored to the exact needs of your property.

Not a generic checklist.
A property-specific protection strategy.

Our process includes:
• Pre-storm home inspections
• Securing outdoor furnishings and exterior elements
• Evaluating drainage and water flow systems
• Identifying hidden vulnerabilities before they become damage
• Preparing the home for high wind and coastal conditions

This is preventative home management at the highest level.

So when a storm approaches, your home isn’t reacting,
it’s already protected.

This is how high-end homes in Charleston stay protected during hurricane season.
