Down here in South Carolina, school is out this week! Some schools have let out already. We’re seeing a noticeable uptick in roving teenagers in our town. Like the salmon of Capistrano, the e-bike packs have returned from their long migration.

Summer is South Carolina is different from up North. If you are relocating to South Carolina, first of all congrats, and second of all here is what you need to know:

1. Summer here starts in April, but we’re only preheating at that point.
2. July and August will feel hotter and more humid than any heat wave you ever met at your grandmas in Connecticut.
3. Splash pads and pools like the ones at Memorial Bridge Park, Palmetto Islands County Park, and James Island County Park are a necessity if you have kids!
4. Get used to moving a little slower than you’re used to. Moving slow means you are less likely to overheat!
5. Head for the beach! Enough said about that.
