Just tried this wonderful place after reading the following post on Next Door….It was really, really good please try and support them, you will be glad you did….
Supporting our neighbors: While having dinner with a friend this evening, a homeless man entered Six Mile Eats. The young man behind the counter offered a sincere "Hello Donald" and asked what he would like to eat. The owner came out from the kitchen and acknowledged Donald as if he were any other paying customer. While Donald waited patiently and quietly, his evening meal was prepared. As my friend and I discussed this beautiful gesture of humanity, she told me Donald comes in nightly and she has seen the owner give him money from their tip jar. Donald was given his soup, sandwich and drink and was on his way. Before leaving, I let the owner know how wonderful she and her family are. Unbeknownst to me, they owned Ladles until parting ways. They have lost most of their clientele and may be closing in 60 days. Yet, despite not making enough to support their family they choose to help someone in need.
When you're thinking about the lack of cashiers at Walmart, Starbucks on 41 closing, etc, remember there's a local family trying to swim against the tide just to pay their mortgage or rent. And please give Six Mile Eats a try. Their sandwiches are delicious but, more importantly, they are fabulous human beings who care more about you then themselves.
Peace...
