NEW OPENING ALERT: The Navy Yard just got another huge addition, and I can’t wait to check this off the list! 🍝🍷
The team at The Indigo Road Hospitality Group just opened Riva Mare Riva Mare on the top floor of Storehouse 9 in the Charleston Design District, bringing a fresh, coastal Italian concept to North Charleston. Executive Chef Sean McMullen—who brings a Michelin Green Star background for sustainability—is leaning hard into Ligurian-style seafood and hyper-local sourcing from spots like CudaCo and Crosby's.
A few highlights that immediately caught my eye:
*The Rooftop: A massive 165-seat outdoor deck with river views and private cabanas.
*The Menu: Whole lobster spaghetti, squid ink pasta with local shrimp, and a sweet corn agnolotti filled using a traditional Appalachian corn-cutting technique.
*Drinks & Desserts: House limoncellos and Italian cocktails, plus frozen tiramisu and traditional Genoa dome cake for dessert.
Riva Mare is definitely at the top of the list for our next date night. Have you made it over to the Navy Yard to try it out yet? I’d love to hear your thoughts! 🥂
One could argue the most exciting things happening in the Charleston cuisine scene are happening off the downtown peninsula.
