BREAKING: The City of Mount Pleasant has issued a boil water advisory effective Sept 1. City residents - including the campus community - should not drink water from taps or drinking fountains without boiling it. CMU is delivering bottled water to residence halls and will give additional guidance.

It’s been a difficult year, and many Michiganders are struggling to pay rent and other bills. If this is the case in your rental community, we want you to know help is here — for you, and your tenants.
COVID Emergency Rental Assistance (CERA) is a new program available to help tenants facing pandemic-related hardships avoid eviction while also ensuring landlords can recoup owed rent.
Funds are offered and administered through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority’s network of nonprofit agencies. You or your tenants can apply directly online at Michigan.gov/cera or by encouraging your tenants to reach out to 2-1-1.
Who is Eligible?
CERA serves renter households that have incomes less than 80% of Area Median Income (AMI)* who meet the following conditions:
Individual(s) in the household has qualified for unemployment benefits or has experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or has experienced other financial hardship due directly or indirectly to the coronavirus outbreak; and
Individual(s) in the household can demonstrate a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability evidenced by a past due utility or rent notice.
Assistance is readily available for those who need it. As we weather this difficult year together, we encourage you to work with your tenants to help keep them in their homes.

An ad was recently posted on Zillow for one of our rental houses. The house was listed for one day and leased. Someone alerted me that the property was on Craigslist with an altered description with the owner living in Washington State. They were requesting funds be sent directly to them.

Our properties are local family owned and operated for over 40 years. We do not advertise on Craigslist. Please contact me directly if you have any interest in our rentals.

In the midst of us posting houses & apartments for rent, we wanted to take a moment to remind everyone to be cautious when looking for a rental online!

When looking for a property to rent, always be sure to do a quick Google search for the property - legitimate listings will pull up on Zillow.com or on my page.

If a listing seems too good to be true, the seller pushes you to send money without seeing the property, or the seller has no other postings & are from out of state, please be cautious! Research, Google the address, and never send money if you don't truly know where it's going!

If you happen to find a scam posting, please report it! If on Facebook Marketplace, you can report the listing when you open the listing itself.
If you find a website or Craiglist posting that seems fake, you can report to the FTC here: https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/ #/?pid=B
and you can also report to the FBI IC3 here if you've been a victim of the scam: https://www.ic3.gov/
