If you’ve driven down John Ballam Road (just off 6 Mile Rd) lately, you’ve probably noticed the 2 rows of freshly built houses with… no one living in them. Here’s the scoop:

-The land ties back to the Ballam family dating to the 1890s.

-A lawsuit over whether John Ballam Road is public or private has stalled the entire neighborhood.

-Until it’s sorted out, 18 completed homes sit vacant — buyers in limbo, developers in court.

This is one of those “only in Mount Pleasant” stories where history, development, and legal red tape all collide. Clearly this is one of the nicest "ghost towns" I have seen!
