Finding the right home is one thing. Making sure it's the right decision is another. 🏡

For Stephanie + Liam, buying their first home came with a few unexpected challenges, important decisions, and ultimately, a very happy ending in Park Circle!

My years in Human Resources taught me the value of asking the right questions, looking beyond the obvious, and navigating complicated situations with care. Turns out, those skills come in pretty handy in real estate, too.

And sometimes, the most important part of the process is knowing which questions to ask, what to look a little closer at, and how to navigate the unexpected.

Part negotiator, part detective, part problem-solver… and about a dozen other roles before we even make it to closing day.

But that’s what I love about real estate. No two days, clients, or transactions are ever quite the same.

Things Charleston has convinced me are completely normal…

📏 Measuring distance in bridges, not miles.

🚪 Judging a house by its front door. I know I’m not supposed to. I do it anyway.

🌳 Considering mature trees a legitimate house feature. You can renovate a bathroom. You cannot order a 100-year-old live oak.

🌊 Knowing “waterfront” requires a few follow-up questions. Because in Charleston, not all water is created equal.

🚙 Having a favorite street you don’t live on—and considering “I get to drive down it every day” a home-buying perk.

🏡 Asking about flood insurance as casually as you ask about the HOA.

🎃 Seeing pumpkins on a Charleston stoop and deciding fall has officially begun. The temperature has absolutely no say in the matter.

I’ve lived it, bought it, sold it, and helped many people do the same. At this point, Charleston’s quirks aren’t just normal to me—they’re the details I know to look for.

If your list of Charleston restaurants to try keeps getting longer, you're not imagining it.

This has been a busy year for downtown dining, and the fall lineup gives us even more to look forward to.

V Modern Italian arrived on Meeting Street, Bareo brought Filipino and Japanese flavors to Spring Street, and The Crossing added coastal Mediterranean dining overlooking the harbor at The Cooper. On Cannon Street, KYN opened its permanent home for Japanese handrolls and omakase.

And the year isn't finished. The fall lineup includes Cheeky on Meeting Street, while Alteño and Jack's Diner are targeting October debuts. From a Mexican restaurant on Cannon Street to an all-day diner on George Street, there's plenty to keep our dining plans interesting.

No wonder Charleston earned the No. 2 spot among America's foodie cities in Yelp and Lyft's 2026 ranking, just behind New Orleans.

For me, the fun is balancing new discoveries with the places we already love. With oyster season here, October offers another reason to gather around a table.
