Happy from ! We are honored to thank and remember all military personnel who served our country.
During these times, we cannot help but recall our nation's history, and the rich history of Lerato's early visionaries who, back in the 1980's, purchased and embarked on developing 1,800 acres of prime land that would later become , especially one whom we consider our "founding father", Benedict T. Marino.
Ben was a 1964 graduate of . As a , he joined the Army Airborne Rangers and served in Vietnam near the Cambodian border. For his actions against hostile forces in Vietnam, he was awarded a , the Meritorious Service Medal and the Service Medal. After Vietnam, he served in the North American Air Defense Command with command responsibilities for nuclear missile batteries during the cold war, and was honorably discharged from the as a .
One of Ben's favorite poems was by . The last two lines of this well known poem - I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul - is a battlecry for shaping our futures today, and is the tenant that drives Lerato LLC in its commitment to "responsible development for a better tomorrow".
