My wife and I were fortunate to enjoy the opportunity of raising a month-old injured and orphaned grey squirrel this past fall.
He spent six weeks with us and taught us a lot about life. Our encounter began while I was pumping gas at the gas station.
Mr. Squirrel (soon to be known as “Rocky”) approached me and quickly ran up my leg to sit on my shoulder.
I continued filling my tank with gas and noticed he was bleeding from his front paw.
I hopped in my truck with squirrel still on my shoulder, took him home and asked my wife for permission to bring him into the house.
Together we dressed his wound, gave him Pedialyte. We keep him warm with a heating pad and towels.
We sought out the advice of a Wildlife Rehabber to ensure we were taking care of him the correct way.
Here are five things Rocky taught us about life prior to giving him to the rehabber for release.
1. Save for the future, you never know when you will need it.
2. Be creative and adapt to life’s challenges.
3. Sometimes you just must go out on a limb and step outside your comfort zone.
4. Being kind to animals can make your life so much more relaxing and rewarding.
5. Everything has a purpose.

Home prices are projected to appreciate by 3-4% this year.

It’s a simple case of supply and demand. When high buyer demand meets low inventory, homes prices will appreciate.
This year, however, we saw it at a faster-than-usual pace averaging about 7% nationwide.
For 2021, experts project that we will continue to see appreciation, just at a slower pace that’s reflective of a more balanced market.
While some may be worried that the rapid acceleration of home values means we’re heading for another bubble, remember that context is everything.
With the end of the pandemic in sight, experts expect inventory levels to rise and home prices to appreciate at a more steady pace. – Keeping Current Matters 2021

Today is National Mammography Day! Occurring every third Friday of October, National Mammography Day is a cousin to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They’re both committed to women’s self care but this day is set aside specifically to encourage women to take the time to make an appointment. Early detection means early treatment and the difference between life and death.
