🌧️ NOR’EASTER PREPARATION: ARE YOU READY, LONG ISLAND? 🌊
With a nor’easter expected to impact Long Island, now is a good time to take a few simple steps to help protect your home, family, and property.
Here are 5 key things to do before the storm:
🏠 1. Secure Your Home
Bring in outdoor furniture, decorations, trash cans, and other loose items. Make sure gutters and drains are clear.
🔦 2. Prepare for Power Outages
Charge your phones, gather flashlights and extra batteries, and have water and non-perishable food on hand.
🚗 3. Check Your Vehicle
Make sure your gas tank is at least half full and keep an emergency kit in your vehicle.
🌊 4. Be Aware of Flooding & High Winds
If you're in a flood-prone area, move valuables to higher ground and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm.
🐾 5. Don’t Forget Your Pets
Keep pets indoors and make sure you have food, water, medications, and other necessary supplies.
Most importantly, stay informed and follow guidance from local officials. Stay safe, Long Island! 💙
