Due to the nature of Memorial Day, I have never felt right about promoting myself or my business in a Memorial Day parade. But I love being a part of the Exchange Club of Mount Vernon/Knox County.

Every year our members have participated in front of the parade, as part of the Exchange Club program called “Give A Kid A Flag To Wave.”

We pass out American Flags to kids along the parade route so they can show their support and patriotism. We also encourage parents and grandparents to explain how to treat and show proper respect to the flag.

There is something special about a small town parade when hundreds of young people line the streets and wave their flags as the parade goes by.

It’s a piece of Americana I hope we never lose. 🇺🇸

This past Memorial Day, as always, it was a touching reminder to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. And a renewed hope that these future generations will continue to honor their service.

In this world of “fast food,” sometimes your body craves REAL food. And when I want clean, natural, healthy food? Green Vibes on the Public Square is the place to go!

I like the fresh-squeezed Mean Green. This isn’t just a fun name. The energy I get from this juice is remarkable, and I love the fresh taste. I can really tell the difference!

When I want an actual meal, I go with the Groovy Grain Bowl for lunch. It includes black beans, quinoa, avocado, kale, and many more ingredients, topped with their homemade cashew cheese sauce and roasted sesame drizzle. It's a special treat.

Need a mid-day snack? Their all-natural hummus with carrots and celery will do the trick.

Green Vibe offers nearly three dozen menu items, including juices, smoothies, iced drinks, and meal options. They are located at 37 Public Square in Mount Vernon and are open Tuesday thru Friday 9-4, and Saturday 9-3.

Thinking about selling in Knox Co? Here are three things you can expect when you get an offer on your home 👇 This week, we’re talking about contingencies.

- Offer is contingent on the buyer’s inspection report. And buyers choose the home inspector. This is usually done within 7-10 business days.

- Offer is contingent on the appraisal. The lender orders an appraisal on the property, and it usually must prove the home is valued at or above the offer price.

- Offer is contingent upon financing. This is simply the buyer’s ability to get necessary financing and close on the property.

BUYER TIP: The fewer contingencies you have on your offer? The better your offer looks to the seller!

Way back in 1999, I remember first talking about the idea of turning this 165-acre land into a nature park. So last week I was thrilled to attend the Grand Opening of The Woodlands.

This beautiful land has been part of Mount Vernon Developmental Center and owned by the state for nearly 100 years. Until this year.

It will be home to a beautiful pavilion, miles of scenic trails, and it has some of the greatest primitive growth of undisturbed woodlands in Ohio. Some of the trees have been estimated to be nearly 250 years old!

The first conversations I had about the potential of making this area a park started 27 years ago with then State Representative, Bill Harris. Past Park District Directors, Kim Marshal, Lori Totman, and current Director, David Heithaus along with the ongoing Park District Board Members, have all had a hand in seeing this through.

When you plant your roots in a place like Knox County, you can’t help but celebrate big milestones like this. And I’m pleased to be a small part of the 27 years of planning and negotiating it took to make The Woodlands a reality.

Do not push the button!

I really am looking out for you here, I promise. Before you click “Request a tour”, let me tell you what really happens when you click that little blue button…

That one click then sends your information out to not just one, but a TON of Realtors in the area all at once. Before you know it, your phone will be lighting up with calls and texts from people you have never met.

Something else to think about…you have no idea what type of agent is on the other end of the phone. Some might be amazing. Some might have just gotten their license last week. You just don’t know.

Wouldn’t you rather call someone directly that you know you can trust? That you know is knowledgeable and experienced? So do not push the button! Instead, give me a call and we’ll get you taken care of without your phone going crazy with a million unknown numbers. 😉

Wishing all the mom’s out there a day of rest and love! My mother was an incredible human. A lot of you knew her and know how giving and caring she was not just to us nine kids (yes, nine) but to the community as well.
