I traveled to and from Idaho last week for the Platform Marketing mastermind. Anytime Iโ€™m tempted to complain about the โ€œinconvenienceโ€ of travelโ€”the lines, flight delays, cancellations, tight spaces, sketchy wifi, airport food, and general annoyances of traveling by air โ€” I simply look up the distance of my journey and divide that number by 15. In this case, Central Ohio to Boise is almost 2,000 miles. And for millennia, before the invention of the internal combustion engine, humans could only travel about 15 miles a day.

So my 2,000 mile journey to Idaho would take me 133 days.....thatโ€™s more than FOUR MONTHS one way.

My conference began, Monday, September 21st. This means I would have needed to leave home in mid May to arrive at my conference on time.

Round trip, the journey to attend the Platform mastermind would have taken more than 8 months....and thatโ€™s assuming I wasnโ€™t mauled by bears or attacked by Sioux warriors.

And the overhead luggage I carried (pulled on rollers) enough clothing and necessities to last 4-5 daysโ€ฆ not a chance.

So whenever youโ€™re feeling tired, annoyed, or frustrated with airlines, remember that for most of human history, travel was downright dangerous. It was cruel. Only because of free people living in a free society did we experience the innovation of the industrial revolution, which severed the link between time and distance.

So here I am, typing this essay on my iPhone sitting at my gate. I have the instantaneous ability to publish my ideas with literal worldwide distribution. And Iโ€™m about to fly somewhere that would have taken Lewis & Clark more than 3 months to travel to....in about 3 hours. All to take in a few days of great information.

Weโ€™re living in a world my great grandparents could have never imagined. In fact, to my knowledge, even my grandparents, never left the state of New York.

It's foolish to say you don't believe in miracles. Modern life IS a miracle.

Donโ€™t take it for granted โœˆ๏ธ
