Good afternoon folks. We have had a lot of calls on two bedroom and three bedroom apartments. I would like to inform the public that we do not have two bedrooms and we don’t have three bedrooms here. We are not low income housing or affiliated with their program.

STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED IN MOUNT VERNON—Due to the severity of recent flood predictions, Mayor Boudreau has declared an emergency for the city of Mount Vernon.

The prediction of possible unprecedented river levels has forced the reduction of many normal City services to allow staff to respond to community, flood-related needs.

Flood protection measures (flood wall) has been deployed in downtown Mount Vernon and the Skagit Riverwalk and Plaza are closed.

Edgewater Park and Lions Park are closed.

Residents in the floodplain should take action over the next 24-48 hours to protect their homes, families, and property from floodwaters.

The City is anticipating the closure of the Hwy 538 bridge (Division Street, Westside Bridge) if and when the river level reaches 35’ at the Riverside Gauge.

If you are in need of sandbags or other resources and aren't sure where to go, please contact Skagit County Department of Emergency Management at 360-416-1850 .

Sandbags are available at D**e District 17, 121 Stewart Road or Mount Vernon Yard Waste facility, 409 West Fir.

Residents who may be curious about the river are being asked to stay clear of City crews who are tending to the floodwall.

Skagitonians throughout the County should also expect water over low-lying roadways. Practice "Turn Around - Don’t Drown" and do not drive through water over the roadway. It can be deeper and faster moving than anticipated and presents a risk to drivers.

For more emergency information, sign up for the emergency information listserv, CodeRed Alerts or follow Skagit County on Twitter .

The River Level Hotline (360-416-1404 ) and www.skagitcounty.net/flood are updated frequently during events with current conditions and can be resources for information as well.

We are now back to phase 1 in Washington due to Covid-19. Many restaurants will only be doing take out orders. Please update yourself on the new guidelines and restrictions. We are seeing reports of new cases higher than we were in March of 2020. So if you need to contact the office, please call first. We request that persons not meet with us inside the office if we can avoid this at this time. The sign says closed, but the instructions say to call first. Thank you. Have a great Monday.
