On Friday, September 4th the North Carolina Apple Festival kicks off a fun-filled Labor Day Weekend in Hendersonville, NC with four days of fresh apples, homemade treats, live music, crafts, family activities, and one of the area’s biggest annual celebrations. Running through Monday, September 7th, the 80th festival takes over downtown Main Street with a Street Fair featuring fourteen Henderson County apple growers selling fresh-picked fruit along with cider, apple butter, fried pies, cakes, donuts, slushies, and other favorites. Apple growing has been part of Henderson County’s story since the mid-1700s, and today the county produces about 80% of North Carolina’s apple crop. Visitors can also shop arts and crafts booths, enjoy festival food, and catch live performances at the Entertainment Stage in front of the Historic Courthouse. Kids can head to the Family Fun Zone for rides, inflatables, and games. The festival draws more than 250,000 visitors each year, making downtown especially lively throughout the weekend. Everything wraps up Monday afternoon with the King Apple Parade, featuring floats, bands, youth groups, fire trucks, and other entries rolling through downtown for the festival’s traditional Labor Day finale.
