A few weeks ago the BOP set forth a new directive prioritizing Home Confinement for individuals who do not need the services a Residential Reentry Center (RRC) or commonly referred to as Halfway house (HWH).

The purpose of time in RRC/HWH is to allow individuals time to find a stable home, to reconnect with family and friends, to get necessary medical attention, and to find decent and steady employment.

The new directive allows placement directly at home if you don’t need these services. For example, if you already have a stable home, have financial and emotional support from family and friend as well as having reasonable employment “prospects” (you don’t necessarily need to have a job) then you should formally request to be placed directly on HC.

The BOP will review your loved one’s case and weigh it against 7 factors. If your loved one’s case satisfies most or all of these 7 factors, you should consider formally requesting consideration for direct to HC placement.

Remember to take a break from the mental stress and anxiety that comes with advocating for your incarcerated loved on.

Each day learn something new, do something physical for the body, and pray or meditate. You are not much it a help for your LO if you are burned out.

As a Federal prison expert I feel that it is appropriate to comment on the "Diddy" trial developments of today.

It was a split verdict. He was convicted on the lesser charges. Much of the media says that he is facing "up to" 10 years for each count. In actuality, it does not work that way. There are Federal sentencing guidelines that determine what he is actually facing. It is these guidelines that actually matter. In this case, we can look to the guidelines for his crimes. From what I can read, it looks like his score is around 22. This means that he is probably facing anywhere from 2-5 years or so in prison.

Looks like he may need a my services. I would be happy to help him.
