Have you been to Mountain View a dozen times and somehow missed this?

I love finding the little places that aren’t necessarily the reason you came but end up being some of the most memorable parts of the trip.

This is all tucked inside Mountain View City Park. There’s an old stone amphitheater hidden among the trees, along with winding stone paths, a creek, little waterfalls, a beautiful stone bridge and vines growing over just about everything.

And if you’re already planning a visit to the Ozark Folk Center, this is such a pretty little nearby addition while you’re in the area. No big itinerary needed just give yourself a little extra time to wander.

Now I have to know… What kind of traveler are you? Do you stick pretty closely to the itinerary, or do you always leave a little room for the places you didn’t plan on finding?

I’m definitely the one adding something new to the itinerary… or turning a “quick little walk” into another hour because I had to see what was around the next corner.

Okay Mountain View lovers… where’s your favorite place to grab a burger? Because I’m always looking for an excuse to try another one. 😂

I’m a sucker for a good food truck, and Whispering Woods is one of my favorites. It’s right by the square, so you can grab a burger, sit outside and then wander around downtown afterward. And this one definitely did not disappoint. 🤤

But now I want to know yours! Who has the best burger in Mountain View? Drop your favorite below. Bonus points if there’s something specific on the menu I need to order next time. 👇

I don’t know what it is… the porch, the rocking chairs, the quiet, or just being tucked away in the Ozarks.

One of those Mountain View days that just feels like summer. 🤎

Grab a tube, find a swimming hole, jump off a rock if you’re brave enough, and spend the afternoon in some of the clearest water you’ve ever seen.

This is one of those things I love sharing with our Billie’s Bunkhouse guests because you don’t need a big itinerary or some elaborate plan. Pack some snacks, throw on your swimsuits and go explore. The springs, creeks and swimming holes around here are honestly some of the best parts of visiting the Ozarks.

Then when everyone is tired, sun-kissed and ready to relax… back to Billie’s. 🏡

Okay, one adventure I definitely don’t share enough with our guests is the White River. And honestly, that’s a crime because…LOOK at it! 😍

There are so many ways to enjoy this place, whether you want to hike it, fish it, get out on the water or just find yourself a really good view.

And the fishing is something I especially don’t mention enough. 🎣 The White River is known for rainbow, brown, cutthroat and brook trout and we’re not just talking about little trout here. These waters have produced some seriously BIG, record breaking fish.

If you’re up for a hike(or mountain bike), White River Bluff Loop takes you through the shaded forest and up to gorgeous overlooks of the river. You can also head down to Allison/Sylamore and spend some time along the water. Explore, fish off the bank, kayak or raft. And if hiking isn’t your thing but you still want that WOW view, take the little drive over to City Rock Bluff in Calico Rock. Totally worth it, and you can wander around the little town while you’re there.

Or just head over to Jack’s, grab a guide and get out on the river. Take the kids, grab the guys, make it a family day…even if you’ve never trout fished before, what a fun way to experience Mountain View.

And if you’ve stayed with us before and had NO idea all of this was right here…I may owe you an apology. 😂

If you’ve been thinking about a fall trip to Mountain View, save this one! I was looking through everything coming up for the rest of the year and there are so many fun weekends ahead, so I wanted to put all the dates together in one place.

And honestly, you don’t even need to plan your trip around one of the big festivals. One of my favorite things about Mountain View is the music that happens here every weekend. Friday and Saturday evenings through October, the Courthouse Square fills up with live music, people bring their chairs, there’s always a great turnout, and before long everyone is dancing. It’s relaxed and easygoing, but so much fun and such a big part of what makes this little town special.

You can also catch free folk music at the Jimmy Driftwood Music Barn on Fridays and Sundays from 7–9.

So whether you come for BeanFest, bluegrass, motorcycles, Christmas festivities or just a weekend of music on the Square, there’s still plenty to look forward to in Mountain View this year.
