November 1st and 2nd is el Día de los Mu***os, or day of the dead. Did you know over 3% of Muncie's population is Hispanic/Latino? That includes this Realtor! is celebrated largely in Mexico, but also in other Central and South American countries like Costa Rica (where my family is from!) and even Brazil.

Day 6/6 - 👻 Happy Halloween! Today's post is about the Muncie Civic Theater, and is also the last one in my haunted Muncie series. I was just at the theater recently and asked someone familiar with it if it had a basement (normal real estate agent questions...) They said it did, and I said, "I bet it's creepy," and they replied "IT IS." So, there you have it. Creepy=Definitely Haunted. Then again, Boyce Block is dinosaur years old, there's no way it's not a least a little haunted!

Day 5/6 - 👻 Every day leading up to Halloween I'll be sharing a bit of Muncie's spooky side (and interesting history!) Today's post is about the old Roberts Hotel, now a senior housing facility. Urban legend says it is haunted by the ghost of Florence, a librarian who plummeted to her death in winter of 1943 during a citywide test black-out. It is still unknown if her death was an accident, foul play, or something else. She is known to cause a bit a mischief around her old room!

Today's post is about the Carnegie Library downtown, and as a former library employee, I have to concur with this one. Carnegie is gorgeous (and worth a visit just for that!) but even several employees admit to having felt that spine-tingling feeling of not being alone here...

Day 3/6 - 👻 Every day leading up to Halloween I'll be sharing a bit of Muncie's spooky side (and interesting history!) Today's post is about "George and Hazel's" home. This beautiful historic home on Main Street in the Emily Kimbrough district was once featured in an article where the homeowner described her encounters with Hazel the ghost. After George had passed away and Hazel moved out, the new homeowners moved in, and shortly afterward, Hazel herself passed. The homeowners, in the article, said the strange occurrences began after Hazel passed — the homeowner even claims to have seen her apparition! Word is, Hazel is pretty polite though and will stop messing with objects when asked nicely...

(PS - an earlier version of this post stated that Beech Grove cemetery used to be a secret burial ground for the Delaware Indians. This is not accurate. Thank you for the info !!)
