Sometimes the right house isn’t the prettiest house.
I’ve walked through plenty of homes where buyers get hung up on the things they notice first—the dated kitchen, ugly carpet, old light fixtures, or a paint color they’d never choose.
But those are often the easy things to change.
What’s much harder to change?
The location. The lot. The natural light. The layout. The neighborhood. The way the house sits on the property.
Part of house hunting is learning to look past what a home looks like today and recognize what it could become.
That dated kitchen can change.
The carpet can go.
And that questionable paint color? Give me a weekend. 😂
But you can’t renovate your way into a better location.
Sometimes the house worth taking a second look at is the one that doesn’t knock your socks off when you first walk through the door.
Look for the things you can’t change first. Then decide what you’re willing to change.
