It's been awfully cold recently, which raises the risk for freezing/breaking pipes. You can help prevent your pipes from freezing by letting your interior faucets run a pencil-thin stream of cold water at night until the weather warms up with highs above freezing. Moving water makes it a bit more difficult for water to freeze in your pipes.
(For those concerned with water conservation vs. running water to prevent pipe freezing, a 1/4” or pencil sized stream from the faucet represents a very small percentage of annual use for the average customer, especially when compared to outdoor watering. A frozen pipe can break and cause a much larger leak (and damage). Unlike landscape overwatering which is lost to the atmosphere, the water you send down your drain in your home goes to a treatment plant and is released into the Jordan River after treatment.
