Started the week at a chimney inspection, checking gas log clearances and making sure the whole setup actually meets code.

This is why inspections matter. It's not about nitpicking, it's about catching the details that get missed until they become a real problem, or a real expense. Clearance issues around gas logs are exactly the kind of thing that gets overlooked and shouldn't be.

Cutting corners here isn't worth it. Not on safety, not on the sale.

Today's sermon was on Jonah chapter 4.

Mercy extended to the undeserving is what makes it mercy, not merit.

Jonah obeyed God's command but never got to God's heart behind it.

Still working on closing that gap myself.

One of the many benefits of being a father is you don't have to pay $5 for a birthday card anymore. You can just ask the kids to draw one up for you. Free and it means more.

Friday audit: Faith, family, friendship all locked in this week.
Fitness goal still open, got until Sunday to close it out. Not backing off.

I share with my kids that I set goals for myself every week and they see me working toward those goals every day. It's awesome because I see them trying to get involved as well and they're building that drive within themselves.

We just added Class Crunch Labs to our science curriculum, and I'm as excited as the kids are.

Mark Rober built something that actually gets kids leaning in instead of checking out. My son's been doing Crunch Labs for about two and a half years now, and he still lights up over every box. Not just building the thing, but understanding the physics behind why it works.

Right now the curriculum only covers sixth through eighth grade. Third through fifth is coming at a future date, not live yet. Until then, I'm using the middle school material and just explaining things further when it's above where my younger kids are.

There was nothing particularly different about today, I just felt off. Tired, weak, like I've been working out for 55 days straight maybe?... But days like today are what makes 75 Hard so much better. Days when you want to stay in bed, but you get up when your alarm goes off anyway.

19 more days until I'm through with this round. Staying strong.

The sermon today was on Jonah. He got called a second time by God, and he went, but without joy. Eight words of judgment for Nineveh, no blessing attached, and he still resented delivering it.

Nineveh repented anyway. God relented anyway. Jonah was furious about it. God moves different than we expect.

The question that stuck with me: what's your Nineveh right now? Not last year's version of it. What is God calling you into in this season, the thing you'd rather not walk toward?

chickens have finally settled in, and they're loving their new setup.
They have been going into and out of the coop now without any issues, and the girls have started laying eggs regularly again.
The first day that I let them out of the coop, I had to physically put four chickens through the chicken door at night, but now they are all going in without any issues.

The last few days haven't been easy. I'm not sick, just worn down, low energy, the kind of tired that makes staying in bed feel justified.

I got up anyway. Got my first workout in, and then the second one later in the day, same as always. Not because I felt like it, but because that's the standard, and the standard doesn't care how you feel that day.

What's actually carried me through it is my crew on the Operator Standard app. Seeing them show up, checking in, pushing when I didn't want to push, that's real accountability. It's a lot harder to quit on people who are watching you show up.

Discipline gets you started. The right people around you keep you going when discipline alone isn't enough.

I ran a self-audit with my kids today. I asked them straight: "What could I do better for you as a father?"

Some answers were silly (more candy, hot cocoa runs). But most of the time they give you something real. Kids don't sugarcoat it if you actually ask and actually listen.

Where I need to sharpen up on this pillar: taking their answers seriously instead of laughing them off, even the silly ones. There's usually a real ask buried in there.

How this connects to the week's intentions: you can't lead a house you're not getting honest feedback from. This is one way I check my blind spots.
