Today, we pause.
Not for barbecues, long weekends, or the unofficial start of summer — but for the men and women who never made it home.
We remember the soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen who gave everything in service to this country. Their sacrifice is woven into every freedom we enjoy, every flag that waves, and every quiet moment spent safely with the people we love.
And today, we also honor the families they left behind. The spouses who carry on. The children who grew up missing a parent. The mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters who live with an empty seat at the table and a heart forever changed by service and sacrifice.
Some gave their lives in a single moment. Their families carry that sacrifice for a lifetime.
May we never take that for granted.
Today, we remember with gratitude, humility, and reverence.
