For those of you trying to determine whether the flooding in our area might effect you, take a look at Google Earth Web. Google Earth Web https://earth.google.com/web/ provides satallite measures of elevations above sea levels. Wondering what 2' above Hurricane Matthew might mean for you? Measure the height above sea level at an area that was at the edge of the flood waters during Matthew and then measure at your property and compare. It's not exact, but it may help you.
1. Go to the link
2. Search your address to zoom close to your target area
3. Click the 3 lines at the top left, click settings, change your units of measure to "Feet and miles", click save at the bottom
4. Put the cursur (no clicking needed) over the area you want to measure and look at the bottom right corner for 2 "ft" measurements. One will be in the hundreds or thousands which is the camera view height, one will be a lower number in in the ones or tens. This is your elevation above sea level.
Keep in mind that if you move your mouse over a tree or house, you will end up in the 20's, 30's or 40's. Make sure you are over a yard or street. The Socastee Bridge is at 14' and the bridge never had water ON it from what I remember. Starcreek Circle was under water and is an elevation of 4-5' and was completely under water.
