There’s just something about autumn in Connecticut that hits differently. The air gets that perfect chill, the leaves start to turn, and suddenly, my weekend plans revolve entirely around finding the best c***r donut in the state.

If you’re looking to lean into the season, here are four of my absolute favorite local stops to soak up those quintessential fall vibes:

🚜 Holmberg Orchards (Gales Ferry): A local staple for a reason. Their farm market is incredible, and picking your own fruit here feels like a true New England tradition.

🥧 Lyman Orchards (Middlefield): Come for the apple picking, stay for the iconic Apple Barrel farm market. It’s one of those places where you can spend the whole afternoon just enjoying the crisp air and the views.

🧺 Scott’s Yankee Farmer (East Lyme): This spot is pure charm. Whether you’re heading out for PYO apples or grabbing fresh pumpkins, it’s a must-visit for anyone who loves that authentic farm-to-table feel.

🍩 B.F. Clyde’s C***r Mill (Mystic): You haven't officially done fall in CT until you’ve visited the oldest steam-powered c***r mill in the country. Between the sweet c***r, the hard c***r, and those legendary warm c***r donuts, it’s an absolute sensory experience.

There is something truly grounding about watching a tall ship move through these waters. Seeing the Kalmar Nyckel circling the Mystic harbor today, just before it hauls out, feels like a direct bridge to our maritime past. ⚓️

In a town with so much history baked into the docks and the salt air, catching a glimpse of those masts against the horizon is a powerful reminder of why this place is so special. Whether she’s heading in for routine maintenance or wrapping up for the season, it’s a sight that never gets old.

Mystic always finds a way to stop you in your tracks. Did anyone else catch her out on the water today? ⛵️✨
