A new configuration is in place at the roundabout at Eagle and Amity Roads.

The eastbound and westbound approaches on Amity Road have been modified from two entry lanes to single entry lanes. The outside lanes on these approaches are now right turn only. Vehicles using the right turn lanes are required to yield to traffic within the roundabout. Both Eagle Road approaches remain the same as they were prior to this modification.

Why the change?

While roundabouts are a great traffic tool, they can be sensitive to traffic volumes. We found that current traffic volumes are not high enough for the full dual lane configuration. We also noticed some drivers changing lanes within the roundabout and failing to yield to all lanes prior to entering. The new configuration helps simplify travel through the roundabout by keeping drivers in a single lane.
The modular cushions installed within the roundabout to reinforce single lane entry can be easily removed. If traffic volumes change, the cushions can be removed, returning the roundabout to its full dual lane configuration.

Please pay attention as you make your way through the roundabout.

- Ustick Road
- US-20/26 (Chinden Boulevard)
- SH-44 (State Street)
