Scallop season is officially underway on Nantucket.

For generations, fall on the island has meant heading out onto the harbor in search of Nantucket bay scallops—one of the island’s most celebrated traditions and a true taste of the season. Recreational scalloping begins each October, followed by the commercial season in November, when local fishermen take to the water in pursuit of the small, sweet scallops Nantucket is known for.

JPFCO agent Kate Kling is getting in on the tradition and making the most of one of our favorite times of year on the island.
