I support the trades wholeheartedly!

The trades are seen as a fallback career rather than a first choice option for a few reasons. I think it starts in our schools.

The way skilled trades are talked about amongst teachers, parents and students is that the best move forward for a successful career is to go to university right away, and if that doesn’t work out “you can always go into the trades.”
Many trades require post secondary schooling and I have worked with a lot of people who went to college/university for a degree only to pursue a career in the skilled trades after.
