The aftermath of Hurricane Ian was unfathomable. My family was fortunate, but many others were not and some lost everything. The past couple of weeks have been a blur. But, I am so proud to be a part of the SWFL community, where many of us have come together to help our neighbors. We are strong , resilient and we will rebuild. There are a lot of things that go on behind the scenes in the real estate industry.

There’s a lot of research that goes into finding the right property for you: digging through listings and comparing them to your wish list, making sure they have all the amenities you want—and then there’s the paperwork work to get everything ready. And then there’s negotiating with the seller!

Realtors go above and beyond by negotiating fiercely so that you get the best offer possible.

But it’s time to stop convincing yourself that renting is better than buying a home—because it’s not! Here are 3 reasons why buying is always better:

1. You don’t have to move when your landlord decides to sell their place and uproot your life for no reason.

2. You can make your place YOURS. Yep, rip up those floors, tear down that wall, and replace the bathroom fixtures! It’s all yours.

3. You own the place—and if you ever want to sell it, there will be plenty of buyers out there who are looking for just this type of property right now.

Did you know there are things that can affect your chances of being pre-approved?

First off, make sure you have a decent income and employment history. If you plan on applying for a loan through a bank or mortgage company, they’ll want to see proof that your income has been stable for at least two years before they’ll consider giving you any money.

And of course, any debts you owe will also affect whether or not they’ll consider lending to you—so if there’s anything on your credit report that looks bad, try to get it resolved before applying!
