This month, we will strive to educate the public, homeowner’s insurance companies, and state and local governments about this very important and necessary service for unoccupied homes throughout the US and Canada. The National Home Watch Association is all about growing the footprint of legitimate Home Watch companies by providing risk mitigation to thousands of second homeowners and the billions of dollars of unchecked second homes they represent.

NEW: Hurricane is expected over the next 5 days, first cone just issued for Potential Tropical System #5. This storm will be no threat to Florida! Here are my thoughts as of Sunday:

1. If you're in the eastern Caribbean or have travel plans this week there, you should be monitoring the storm for potential impacts Tuesday into Wednesday based on the cone below. Intensity would be either an upper-end tropical storm or hurricane as it passes by.

2. The storm will stay well east of Florida, but still will bring greater surf and rip currents to the state this week. Almost all models keep the storm east of the United States too at this point.

3. Future Ernesto has the greenlight to strengthen even more while in the Atlantic. Can't even rule out a Major (Cat 3+) Hurricane if it can get its act together with favorable conditions.

4. Bermuda should be closely watching this storm by next weekend. Some models show direct impact, some keep the worst of it just east of the island. Considering it's still several days away, watch the forecast daily before making big decisions.

5. The two most likely outcomes for Ernesto down the road would be either curving out to sea as a "fish" storm or making landfall in eastern Canada.
