Rankin began his business career as an accountant, with his family firm in Bradenton, Florida. Rankin practiced accounting with that firm from 1972 through 1982. Rankin became an attorney and began practice with the Law Firm of Parks & Rankin. Rankin practiced with this firm until May of 1992, when he opened his sole practice since May of 1992. Rankin has been a resident of the lower west coast of Florida for over 51 years, where his family has resided for over 75 years. Rankin was board certified in Wills, Trusts & Estates on August 1, 1989 and remained so until July 2004. Rankin became board certified in Real Estate on August 1, 1993 and remained board certified until July 2003. Rankin was duly appointed to be a member of the Judicial Nominating Commission, Twentieth Judicial Circuit. Collier County Foreclosure Task Force, 2010 to present; VA Accredited, 2010 to present; Florida Association of Realtors Forms Committee, 2012 to present; Vice Chair Congressional District 14 Republican Party of Florida, 2010 to present; Chairman Congressional District 25 Republican Party of Florida, 2012 to present. Rankin's mother, "D", who has over 50 years of accounting experience, has worked with Douglas L. Rankin's practice since 1989 and continued to do so until 2013. Further, two of the staff members of the Law Firm of Douglas L. Rankin have been recognized on a State and local level for their outstanding professional achievements. One staff member, Deborah Jesse, was elected Secretary of the Year in 1994 by the Naples Area Chamber of Commerce, won an award for Outstanding Local Membership Chairman for 1995-1996 from the Florida Association of Legal Secretaries, she was one of the top three runners up for Florida Legal Secretary of the Year in 1997 and was elected Legal Support Professional of the Year for Collier County for 2000-2001 and is now a Florida Registered Paralegal.

Be sure to vote for the three amendments that will be on the ballot in November. Here are the details
Amendment 1 — Strengthen Florida’s rainy-day fund
Strengthens Florida’s rainy-day fund by raising the constitutional cap on the Budget Stabilization Fund from 10% to 25% of net general revenue, helping the state stay prepared for storms, emergencies, and economic downturns without raising taxes.
Amendment 2 — Stop taxing the tools that feed Florida
Exempts farm equipment and other tangible personal property used on agricultural land from property taxes, ending the double tax on both land and tools so Florida farmers and ranchers can keep more of what they earn.
Amendment 3 — Real property-tax relief for homestead homeowners
Delivers meaningful property-tax relief to homestead homeowners by increasing the non-school homestead exemption to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028, while lowering the annual assessment cap on non-homestead property from 10% to 5%.

Good morning done with the tax seminar with the IRS. Going to see a ward I'm in charge of and her guardian and then back to Naples. Economic forum at arthrax with NABOR catching up with work at the office working tomorrow at the office. And then next week Republican midterm convention as a delegate in Dallas and every morning out there I'll be working at the office by computer remotely and then the afternoons and evenings will be the convention.

Next week I will be in Orlando on Tuesday Wednesday and part of Thursday at a seminar put on by the IRS. I attend the seminar every couple of years. I do not try and obtain information from secondary sources. This seminar is actually put on by the IRS. Not all the speakers are from the IRS but many are and there are many of them there to answer questions

Here at the Republican party of Florida meeting and the Sunshine State Showdown at the Seminole casino in fort Lauderdale. Be back later on today in Naples. We are going to continue to be the shining example of freedom in this state. We had a board meeting of the Republican party of Florida on which I sit yesterday and today we are hearing from all the great Republican leaders in Florida and elsewhere. . Our state budget is less than 1/2 of New York and they have 3 million fewer people. And you will soon have a choice to lower your property taxes on your homestead and cap the taxes on non homestead.
