Wall Street economists expect the Fed to raise its growth forecasts and sound more confident about the outlook. (CNBC)

DID YOU KNOW? Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York filed a federal lawsuit this week to strike down the cap on SALT deductions under the new tax law, arguing that those who drafted the 16th Amendment understood that "the SALT deduction is essential to prevent the federal tax power from interfering with the States’ sovereign authority to make their own choices about whether and how much to invest in their own residents, businesses, infrastructure, and more - authority that is guaranteed by the 10th Amendment and foundational principles of federalism." The SALT cap disregards States’ rights and the "distinct and inviolable role in our federalist scheme." It asserts that many in Congress transparently admitted to deliberately seek to compel certain States to reduce their public spending which they claim to be unconstitutional. The SALT cap raises the federal tax liability of millions of taxpayers. By increasing the federal tax burden on taxpayers in targeted states, the plaintiffs say that it will be more difficult for the states to maintain their taxation and fiscal policies meaning they cannot make policy decisions without federal interference - a direct violation, they argue, of the Sixteenth Amendment. The suit says the cap "violates bedrock principles of federalism enshrined in the Tenth Amendment." Some are skeptical about this suit. We shall watch closely.... (FORBES)
