Today, on Juneteenth, we were honored to welcome our very own resident Gloria Howell as a guest speaker at Sandalwood Village.
Gloria shared powerful historical insights with our residents, including the story and significance of the Green Book—a vital resource that helped African American travelers navigate a segregated America safely. Her presentation was both compelling and deeply moving, providing important context about a chapter of history that should never be forgotten.
As we reflect on the meaning of Juneteenth, Gloria’s message served as a reminder of how far we have come as a society, while also recognizing that there is still work to be done as we continue striving toward understanding, equality, and unity.
Thank you, Gloria, for taking the time to share your knowledge, experiences, and perspective with our residents. We sincerely appreciate your contribution to this meaningful day of reflection and learning, and for helping us honor the spirit of Juneteenth through education, conversation, and remembrance.
