I have been active in real estate since 1995, hold many certifications and designations, and love helping people with real estate related needs and questions. I have personally bought real estate since 1995 and I have owned my own reconstruction and remodeling company. I have been a licensed real estate broker since 2011 and have a passion for home improvement, renovations, rehabbing, reconstruction and home maintenance. The Avery Cottage, did an amazing job with this beautiful birthday gift. I know that it was a lot of work, effort and cost (physical, emotional, time, financial…).

🚨 REGISTER OF DEEDS- SCAM ALERT🚨

Apparently, some phone scammers have decided they’re the new Register of Deeds… and they’re demanding hundreds of dollars to “get your deed back.”
Nice try, scammers. Register of deeds never ask for money over the phone!

In fact, they did a PSA on Channel 13 yesterday to set the record straight.

✅ Your deed is safe.
✅ You don’t need to pay a ransom.
✅ No one’s running a real estate hostage operation over there.

Also, floating around is a mailer “Property Assessment Profile” for $123 (wow, what a deal 😅).
***Most of the information these scammers are offering, you can get it from the County for free or just a couple of bucks.

See the example of the scam letter below, so you can recognize it and toss it straight in the recycle bin where it belongs.
